Leagues Receive TRO to Stop Monmouth Park Sports Betting

The NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and NCAA received a temporary restraining order to stop sports betting in New Jersey. Monmouth Park had planned to launch betting on Sunday. State Senator Ray Lesniak, who has been instrumental in expanding gaming in New Jersey, planned on making the first bet. That will not happen anytime soon. There is no date as to when the case will be heard. The temporary restraining order remains in place until the case is resolved.

Trump Taj Mahal to Remain Open Until at Least November 30

Those with plans at Trump Taj Mahal over Thanksgiving weekend have good news. The resort will remain open until at least the end of the month. This is due to Trump Entertainment’s victory in bankruptcy court that allows it to stop paying into employee pensions and health care plans. Trump Entertainment claimed that it was the only way that it could keep the doors open.

Local 54 of Unite Here, the casino’s labor union, was disappointed by this ruling. It planned to protest the loss of benefits at the property over the weekend.

Full House Resorts For Sale

Full House Resorts has put itself on the market. The company owns casinos in Indiana, Mississippi, and Nevada. It is also the casino management team at Lake Tahoe’s Grand Casino Lodge.

Quad Slowly Transforming to Linq Hotel

The Quad in Las Vegas is slowly becoming the Linq. The hotel’s façade is receiving a facelift. The casino has removed its dealertainers from the floor. The hotel, which receives some of the worst reviews in Las Vegas, will temporarily close so that it can be completely remodeled.

The name of the property will become the Linq. This is the same name as the large shopping and dining district adjacent to the property that is home to the High Roller observation wheel. The remodel is expected to be completed by mid 2015.

South Point Poker’s Website Receives Full Approval

South Point Poker’s website Real Gaming is now out of its testing period. It received full approval by the Nevada Gaming Control Board this week. The company’s software becomes the third in Nevada to go through the full licensing process. and Ultimate Poker are the other two. 888 is expected to launch in 2015.

Bethlehem Sands No Longer For Sale

Bethlehem Sands in Pennsylvania is no longer for sale, according to parent company Las Vegas Sands. The company has decided to invest in the property to bring its amenities more in line with a resort. This includes $800 million in renovations to its hotel rooms and restaurants. A Bass Pro Shop is slated to open on the property in the next two years. Bethlehem Sands is the only U.S. property owned by Las Vegas Sands outside Nevada. It is the second highest grossing casino in Pennsylvania.
