The best part about playing real money slots online is the seemingly endless supply of new titles, themes, and gameplay experiences to choose from.
And thanks to two new games released recently by industry leaders Microgaming and Quickspin, the selection of high-quality online slots continues to grow.
Microgaming Goes Punk with The Smashing Biscuits Slot
The Isle of Man-based Microgaming has long been regarded as one of the iGaming industry’s leading software providers.
By partnering with Canadian game designer PearFiction Studios, Microgaming invites slot enthusiasts to enjoy the journey from garage band to global rock star status every guitar player dreams about.
In a press release issued on June 13th, the company announced that PearFiction’s punk rock-themed The Smashing Biscuit is the latest title to join Microgaming’s slot menu.
Jagoda Barber – who serves as Head of Games for Microgaming – described The Smashing Biscuit as a rocking good time for slot fans who like a little background music while they try to win big money:
“We are delighted to add The Smashing Biscuit as the latest exclusive game to Microgaming.
Bringing plenty of exhilarating excitement from the very first spin, The Smashing Biscuit offers an abundance of intuitive features, entertaining sound effects and an engaging storyline, and is set to bring players on a rewarding journey.”
The Smashing Biscuit is a 5×3-reel slot game featuring 20 paylines and a 96.01 percent return to player rate.
The game’s special features include a Multiplier Ladder, which attaches payout multipliers that increase and decrease in time with the beats emanating from title band’s rehearsal sessions.
Another fun feature to look for is the Dad Bonus, triggered when the Biscuits’ father shows up to tune the multiplier dial upwards or downwards. Mr. Biscuit can also award instant winners when he likes what he hears, or even trigger the Battle of the Bands free spins session.
As for the Biscuit brothers themselves, Tiny, Crunchy, and the unfortunately named Soggy are three rockers looking for their big break. Players will hear their Spinal Tap-inspired tunes while spinning the reels, and the game’s reel symbols include electric guitars designed to look like playing card symbols (J, Q, K, and A). Other reel symbols include the Biscuit brothers and their Dad, along with Wild and Scatter symbols that generate additional winning combinations.
And just like their heroes from Spinal Tap, the boys from The Smashing Biscuit crank it up to 11 with a maximum multiplier of 11x.
Quickspin Launches First Jackpot Game in Dragon Chase
A few days later, Swedish online video slot developer Quickspin announced the release of Dragon Chase, an online slot game inspired by mythical beasts of Asian lore.
Dragon Chase is a 5×3-reel, 20-payline slot centered around a variety of gameplay features. The Wildfire effect moves special flaming symbol stick in place after landing on one spin, before sliding downwards on subsequent spins to continue creating winning combos.
Wildfire symbols also stay onscreen after the completion of any Free Spins bonus round, generating the potential for huge payouts on the next paid spin.
And the Dragon Pearl Respin feature unlocks a progressive jackpot worth either five- or six-figures depending on the game type.
In a press release issued on June 17th to confirm Dragon Chase’s launch across affiliated online casino platforms, Quickspin’s Chief Product Officer Erik Gullstrand hyped the company’s first progressive jackpot slot game:
“We’re super excited to release our first jackpot game, and we’re confident that our players and operators will love Dragon Chase!
This is both an entertaining Quickspin game and a jackpot game with the added thrill of being able to win really big – so even if you don’t win the big jackpot, you will still have an awesome gaming experience!”
Using a dual design, the progressive Grand Jackpot found on Dragon Chase Rapid seeds at €10,000 ($11,369). And per Gullstrand, the “Rapid” subtitle is due to the Grand Jackpot’s propensity to trigger on an “almost daily basis.”
The standard Dragon Chase game seeds its progressive Grand Jackpot kitty at €100,000 ($113,699), and Gullstrand says winners will be minted on a monthly basis.
In his statement, Gullstrand said the “minor and major” structure of Dragon Chase was designed to allow online casino operators of all sizes to utilize the slot effectively:
“We’re also proud to have been able to create two different versions of this game, so that operators can choose which jackpot they want to participate in depending on their size, budget, and target demographic.
Or if they want to, they can also use both versions and target a wider range of players!”
Quickspin was acquired $55 million by the Isle of Man based Playtech in 2016.
