Foxwoods Biloxi, New $265m Casino to Open in Mississippi

Biloxi FoxwoodsFoxwoods is a big name in the casino world, especially on the East Coast, but it is about to have a new home in the south as well. Plans were announced earlier today for the launch of a new casino in the Biloxi, MS area. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is taking advantage of their ability to build a casino in the area, and they will join with several partners to get the job done. If Foxwoods original location in Connecticut is any indication, the new casino in Mississippi will be both extravagant and sprawling. Foxwoods is known for its tremendous size, and this new casino is sure to live up to this same styling.

A plan for the new casino in Biloxi has been in the works for years now. Chris Ferrara; a partner in this project, had initially received approval on the proposed land from the Mississippi Gaming Commission all the way back in 2012. With that road block all but out of the way, the path is just about clear for work to begin on the new casino.

Biloxi Casino Plans

The planned Mississippi property does not feature an exceptionally large number of hotel rooms, capping out at just 500. It does, however, put a larger emphasis on gaming; with 50,000 square feet of slots and table games available to visitors. In order to attract an even more dynamic subset of customers, Foxwoods Biloxi, which will be formally known as Foxwoods Resort Casino at Biloxi Pointe, will have even more space in its meeting an exhibition space, which is estimated to be around 71,000 sq. ft. in total size. This implies that Foxwoods plans to cater heavily to larger events in the area, which in turn will help to boost their gaming and hotel business alike.

Biloxi’s Foxwood casino is aiming for a launch date towards the beginning of 2019, though this date is certainly subject to change. The theme of the casino is described as “old Biloxi,” which is moderately interesting in itself, as many casinos in recent years have shifted away from themed layouts and instead simply encompass a general, modern (some would say bland) look and feel.

Foxwoods knows what they are doing, and while the Mississipi, and Southern US gaming markets in general, are somewhat dense and ultra competitive, it is a safe assumption that this new brand will steal customers from nearby competitors. The hottest newest item is always most in demand, and in few places is this more evident than in the launch of a new casino. At WCI, we look forward to seeing the property when the doors are opened, in or around 2019.

  1. Finally a Real Casino!

I am originally from Connecticut and this Casino along with Mohegan Sun was the BEST Casino I had ever been too! I can’t wait until they open right here on the Gulf Coast. Now I can kiss all the other Janky Casinos goodbye and get back to having some real fun & gaming experiences!
