Casino Lugano and its theatre were designed by Italian architect Achille Sfondrini in 1804, making it over two centuries old. The casino lies on the edge of Lake Lugano which sits very close to Switzerland’s border with Italy. The city itself, located in southern Switzerland’s Italian-speaking Ticino region, has plenty of cultural sites to see with its mix of Mediterranean and Swiss heritage.
The closest international airport to the casino is actually located in Italy, at Milan-Malpensa Airport, which is 45 minutes away. From here, there is a regional airport that is only 15 minutes away. You can drive, take a cab, take the bus or take the train from the airport to the casino.

Casino Lugano

The casino was originally built in the early 1800s to be a theatre, and it has still kept a lot of its old style during the renovations it had a few years ago to modernize the interior. Today the casino operates across three floors. The first floor is non-smoking featuring table games and slot machines. The 2nd floor is also a non-smoking section where you can play slot machines and find the restaurant “Elements”. The top floor is reserved for poker tournaments and used as a conferencing space.
The casino hosts Texas Hold ‘em and slot machine tournaments weekly. The Swiss Franc and the Euro are the only currencies accepted here. The casino is open Sunday-Thursday from 12 PM to 4 AM and Friday-Saturday from 12 PM to 5 AM.

Table Games at Casino Lugano

Casino Lugano offers all the classic live casino games. There are many different varieties of roulette available here, with the most common one being European roulette where bets start at €2. Visitors can also play electronic roulette with min/max bets at €0.2/€1. There is also an electronic roulette table with a real cylinder.
Blackjack is another popular game, and the casino offers a few bonuses and features. Free splits and Free doubles are popular in the base game, and then for bonuses, three side bets are available at the blackjack tables: Push 22, Perfect Pairs and 21 + 3.
The last popular card game played at Casino Lugano is Baccarat – and they have just one table. In addition to this, there are a few tables that spread Ultimate Texas Hold ‘em.

There is a poker room on the 3rd floor of the casino that is primarily reserved for Texas Hold ‘em tournaments and live cash games.

The casino stocks over 400 slot machines. You can play either the classic “reel” slot machines that have a mechanical reel (and only one betting line) or the more modern simulated video reel slot machines where you can place bets on multiple lines. It is worth noting that there were 8 live jackpots going at the time of this review worth over €1.4 million.
The casino also has a variety of video poker machines.
