Lucky’s Casino San Carlos has partnered with Hotel Alajuela to bring you a top-class gambling experience inside one of the town’s most popular hotels. The casino is not operated by the privately-owned hotel but rather by the owners of the Lucky’s Casino chain; Thunderbird Resorts Incorporated, who manages the casino on their behalf.
Alajuela is a vibrant suburb just north of the capital city of San Jose. Lucky’s Casino San Carlos is the closest Lucky’s Casino to an airport, a mere 4 km, 10 minutes, drive from Juan Santamaria International Airport. Public transport is available from the casino and can take you to the center of Alajuela via bus or taxi. Alternatively, you can rent a car at the many agencies available.
Costa Rica’s many black sand beaches are popular tourist attractions. You will need to drive to get there and the closest one, in Puerto Viejo, is a 3-hour drive from Lucky’s Casino San Carlos. Other options include Playa Negra: Los Pargos, Playa Panama, and Playa Hermosa.
Semi-casual attire must be worn inside the casino, which means no barefoot or shirtless guests will be allowed in. The legal gambling age in Costa Rica is 18 and all guests will be asked for proof of identification upon entry.

The weekly poker tournaments allow gamblers to play against one another in cash-only Texas Hold‘Em games. The monthly tournament is the main event, focusing on no-limit maximums and requires participants to buy-in with a certain amount, usually $100. These tournaments offer a guaranteed payout of 50% of all competitors buy-ins

The restaurant has local Costa Rican classics as well as international items like Italian Pasta, American-style hamburgers, and Mexican nachos. Their portions are reasonable and are well priced.
